The trees that clog your gutters
Royal Orchard, Bayview Glen and Thornhill Village sit under mature maples and oaks, and the East Don River valley and German Mills Creek run right through the community, so lots that back onto them take valley debris all season. Thornhill Woods is younger, but its street maples are now tall enough to fill a gutter every fall.
The homes we service here
Heritage homes in Thornhill Village; 1960s and 1970s side-splits, back-splits and two-storeys in Royal Orchard, Thornlea and German Mills; large custom homes in Bayview Glen; and newer two-storey detached homes in Thornhill Woods. Split-levels have two or three eave heights, and the upper roof usually drains onto the lower one.
When to book in Thornhill
Thornhill's mature canopy drops from mid-October into mid-November, with the oaks along the East Don finishing last. Most homes do well with a clean in the first half of November; valley-backing lots in Royal Orchard and German Mills often want a touch-up after the oaks let go. Spring matters here too: maple keys collect on split-level lower roofs in May and June and wash straight into the lower trough.
What the job involves in Thornhill
The Thornhill job to know is the split-level. The upper roof drains onto the lower one, so the lower trough carries both roofs' debris and its downspout clogs first. We price by the tallest working height, so most split-levels are two storeys, $399 for a detached home. Bayview Glen's larger homes often price as estate homes, $549 at two storeys, heritage homes near Yonge and Centre get careful hand-clearing on older gutters, and ravine lots add $20 for the extra hauling. Every level is in the photo report.
