What we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and how you stay in control.

Last updated October 12, 2026

The Gutter Gang (345 Wilson Ave, North York, ON M3H 5W1) cleans gutters and eavestroughs across the Greater Toronto Area. Apart from the website-visit information described below, we collect only what we need to quote, schedule, and complete your job, and we handle it under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you have questions about your information, call or text +1 (365) 217-9415, email info@guttergang.ca, or write to us at 345 Wilson Ave, North York, ON M3H 5W1.

What we collect

  • When you get a price or book: your name, email, phone, service address and postal code, home details (type, storeys, gutter guards, trees, add-ons), and the day and time window you pick.
  • When you confirm a work order: the date and time you confirmed and the internet (IP) address it came from — our record that you agreed to it.
  • During the job: before and after photos of your gutters and roofline (not of people), notes that help the crew get in (for example a gate code or a pet), and how and when you paid. We never see your bank details — e-Transfers go through your bank.
  • When you message us through the contact or commercial form: your name, email, phone, company, and message. For a service request (a guard or repair quote, a downspout problem, or a custom quote for a large home) we also keep the service you need, your street address if you give it, the area page you came from, and the home details you entered.
  • Website visits: We advertise on Google, so Google's ad tag runs on our public pages. It notes the pages you visit and the site you came from, when you start or send a form (never what you type in it), your device and internet (IP) address, and whether you came from one of our ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to tell us which ads lead to bookings and to show our ads to people who have visited this site, on Google Search, YouTube, and other websites and apps. When you book, it tells Google that a booking was made and its price. It never receives your name, email, phone number, or address. It never runs on the personal links we email you (your work order, manage page, reschedule offer, or rebooking link), and their addresses are never sent to Google. Google also uses what its tag collects under its own policies: see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. To turn this off, use Google's My Ad Center or block third-party cookies in your browser. We also advertise on Facebook and Instagram, so Meta's pixel runs on our public pages, under the same rules. It notes the pages you visit and the site you came from, your device and internet (IP) address, and whether you came from one of our ads. Meta, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to tell us which ads lead to bookings and to show our ads to people who have visited this site, on Facebook, Instagram, and other apps. When you book, it tells Meta that a booking was made and its price. It never receives your name, email, phone number, or address, and it never runs on the personal links we email you. Meta uses what it collects under its own privacy policy. To turn it off, use your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences or block third-party cookies in your browser.

How we use it

  • To price, schedule, and route your job, and to send your work order, reminders, payment request, and photos — by email, and by text if we have your number.
  • To answer your questions and keep a record of what we agreed and what you paid (tax law requires this).
  • To send occasional reminders — a seasonal "time for your next clean", a request for a review, and Crew Plan season invitations if you're a member. These go only to people who have done business with us, every one includes an unsubscribe link, and an unsubscribe takes effect right away (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation). Emails about a visit you booked still come either way.
  • For texts, reply STOP at any time to stop them.
  • To see which of our Google, Facebook and Instagram ads lead to bookings, and to show our ads to people who have visited the site.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we don't publish photos of your home without asking you first.

Who helps us handle it

We use a small number of service providers, each getting only what it needs to do its job (some only when that feature is switched on):

  • MongoDB Atlas — stores booking, customer, and job records.
  • Vercel — hosts this website.
  • Brevo — delivers our emails.
  • Twilio — delivers our text messages.
  • Cloudflare R2 — stores job photos.
  • Google Maps Platform — turns your address into a map location so we can plan the route.
  • Google Ads — measures how our ads perform and shows our ads to people who have visited the site.
  • Meta — measures how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and shows our ads to people who have visited the site.

Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.

How long we keep it

  • Booking and payment records: six years after the job, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
  • Job photos and crew notes: while you're our customer, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Copies of the emails we send you: deleted automatically after about 13 months.
  • Contact-form messages: as long as we need to answer and follow up.
  • Our Google Ads list of past visitors: a visit stays on it for the period set in our Google Ads account, at most 540 days. Google keeps its own cookies and data under its own policies.
  • Our Meta list of past visitors: a visit stays on it for the period set in our Meta ads account, at most 180 days. Meta keeps its own cookies and data under its own policies.

Your choices and rights

  • See, correct, or change your bookings: every email we send has a "Manage your bookings" link where you can change or cancel a visit, leave the Crew Plan, or unsubscribe.
  • Ask for a copy of what we hold, or have it corrected.
  • Ask us to delete your information. We erase everything that identifies you. For jobs you've already paid for, we keep the amounts and dates (without your name or address) because tax law requires it. Google and Meta hold what their ad tags collect, not us; see below for how to turn it off.

To do any of these, call or text +1 (365) 217-9415, email info@guttergang.ca, or write to us at 345 Wilson Ave, North York, ON M3H 5W1. We'll respond within 30 days.

To turn off ads based on your visits here, use Google's My Ad Center and your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences, or block third-party cookies in your browser. Booking works the same either way.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Our staff sign in individually, and every change is logged. Your work order, manage page, and photos are reached only through long, unguessable links sent to you. If something ever goes wrong that puts your information at real risk, we'll tell you.
